Exit devices can now be discreet, smart and stylish, complete with all the function you expect when exiting a building. Compliance requirements demand easy egress in emergency and this can not be overlooked when designing a building.
Getting out fast
Exit devices are primarily designed for emergency egress, such that if you ran at the door it would open as you hit it!
They are generally setup to provide egress only, unless opened from the inside, and built for emergency use. More expensive options are available if you are planning on using the doors on a regular basis.
Meeting compliance
Exit devices on a door are required for retail spaces accommodating 500+ people, and for smaller meeting spaces of 100+ groups.
Of course the more people the greater the number of doors outlined in council compliance requirements. The challenge for smaller areas maybe is managing the one exit, and how you get in at the same time! Check out our recommended options.
Getting in and out...
If you need a door to work both ways, it can be done, and there are slightly more expensive options to consider.
They can be designed with a handle on the outside, either linked to a mortice lock or directly into the exit device mechanism.
These are designed to handle higher traffic rates both in and out!
